About
Hi, I’m Emma (aka Motters), I live in Dormansland, surrey (just on the Surrey/Sussex/Kent boarder) with my Husband, our two rainbow babies (Izzy and Zach) , oh and our two cats! I love family life but when I get time my passions; aside of midwifery, are gardening and skiing. I qualified as a general nurse in 2011 and it was during a midwifery placement that I witness my first birth. I was so new to the world of pregnancy, birth and babies. I had no idea our bodies were capable of such power, control and just pure awesomeness! As I watched this incredible mum birth her daughter I instantly knew I wanted to learn everything about pregnancy/birth. I qualified as a midwife in 2013 and never looked back.
Over the last 14 years (including training) I have worked across all areas of midwifery but my passions lie with infant feeding, birth rights and individualised care. I am also passionate about supporting women and families in the comfort of their own homes, however I do still support many in having hospital births and/or elective sections. I was a Home birth midwife within a local trust for over 4 years and have continued to support them as a bank midwife from time to time.
Having the ability to truly focus on one woman with no distractions makes the world of difference to the care she receives and therefore the outcome of her pregnancy.
My decision to move away from the NHS in 2023 to practice independently was the best decision I made. Although the NHS has many great elements to offer women and their families, I feel due to its size, staffing, workload and local policy it is unable to provide the high level standard of care I strive for. I have an overwhelming passion for advocacy; to communicate, to listen, to care and to fully support the woman’s individual choices.
As your midwife it is my role to provide bespoke, evidence based 1-2-1 care in line with the NMC code of conduct, to you and your family. All appointments are at home which allows for a calm and private environment in which we can explore your pregnancy and prepare for your birth and postnatal period. It is without doubt that I fully support women’s choice and therefore I dedicate myself to supporting whatever individual decisions you and your family make.
I offer a range of packages from one off appointments for extra support or education, to a full package which offers bespoke antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. Please see packages for further detail and prices.
Please feel free to contact me via telephone or email to ask any questions or to discuss which option would be best suited for you. I looking forward to hearing from you.
